Last summer I spent an afternoon with some local children from an orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Through 'Friends of the Orphans', abandoned, orphaned and special needs children receive horseback riding lessons once a week at the stables in Port-au-Prince. The goal of my recent trip to Haiti was to document some of the projects that are now in place to improve the overall quality of life for the average Haitian. Through the Pan American Development Foundation, Yele Haiti and Friends of the Orphans, I received a glimpse into a Haiti which is rarely publicized by the media; one of passion, hope and positive change."
